Peterborough Local Plan Review – consultation

Peterborough City Council has published its draft local plan, which outlines how the area will grow to the year 2044. In reality it’s reviewed every five years so the current plan once approved will cover the city until around 2031. The current local Local Plan was adopted on 24 July 2019.

There are three new areas of land that have been put forward for development in the reviewed plan.

  • LP 62.31: A large industrial area in the protected ‘green wedge‘ zone to the south east of the village.
  • LP 56.4: 10 homes where the former chip shop was located next to the Blue Boar pub.
  • LP 56.5: 100 homes to the north of Eye Green adjacent to the Grade II* listed Northolm farmhouse.

These are in addition to the 275 home development on Eyebury Road.

The Peterborough Green Wedges are designated areas of protected green space around the city. They are part of the broader planning and environmental strategy to protect the natural landscape and prevent urban sprawl. It is an important buffer zone that separates urban development from swallowing up villages and protecting surrounding countryside and agricultural land, helping to maintain biodiversity, provide recreational spaces, and safeguard the character of villages.

You can comment on the draft version of the reviewed local plan from the 12 April 2025:  Peterborough City Council website. You can find the current local plan here.

Eye Parish Council is also in the process of creating our own Neighbourhood Plan.
