Outreach Post Office coming to Eye

The Parish Council are pleased to announce that a temporary ‘outreach’ Post Office will begin operating on Tuesday 29 March at 9.30am at Manor Farm Community Centre in the village. It will be run by the Parson Drove Post Office and open every Tuesday 9.30am – 12.30pm. A range of Post Office products and services will be available. Please share this info with friends and family in the village so everyone is aware. Nearby Thorney has had an Outreach service provided by Parsons Drove Post Office for a number of years.

The Queens Platinum Jubilee

On the 6 February 2022 Her Majesty The Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate the anniversary, events and initiatives will take place across the country, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June. The bank holiday will provide an opportunity for communities and people to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.

Planning and Environmental Protection Committee approve Tanholt Farm development

Thank you to all residents that responded to the planning application for the 264 home Tanholt Farm Development to the east of Eyebury Road. Eye Parish Council is disappointed that despite the number of objections, outline planning was approved by Peterborough City Council’s Planning and Environmental Protection Committee on Tuesday 25 January.

The Parish Council had objected to the application for a number of concerns including the impact on the village’s primary school and increased traffic on Eyebury Road. We will feedback on the next stage of planning as required and continue to monitor the impact of the site on residents once development starts.

High Street closure and roadworks during January 2022

Improvements to dropped kerbs and an upgrade to the Zebra crossing on the High Street in the village will take place in the new year, with a full road closure taking place between the hours of 9.30 am and 3.30 pm while the works are taking place.

The works by Peterborough City Council are scheduled to start on Monday, 10 January and last for around two to three weeks, with a diversion in place.

Access to residential properties and businesses within the road closure will be permitted via the traffic management team on site.

While the road is closed buses will be diverted down Cartmel Way and back out along Peterborough Road.

The ‘Back Lane’ bus stop in the middle of the village and the church bus stop will be out of operation while the road is closed. The nearest stops will be on Thorney Road, Crowland Road and outside Mattoni.

The Leeds Hall re-opening

The Parish Council will continue to follow government guidance but the Leeds Hall will be open to hire from 19 July 2021.

Village sign

As many of you may have noticed the village sign was sadly damaged in bad weather last year. It is currently being looked after by the Parish Council. Suppliers for renovating or renewing the sign are currently being sourced. Due to the unique nature of these signs this can take time and the pandemic has slowed the process somewhat.
